Words Wonderful, by Susan Klein
Storytellers, Educators, Librarians, and Parents will all benefit from this workshop. Learn
where to find sources of stories and then how to: choose age-appropriate
material; practice and edit selections; present folklore and fairytales
in a manner so engaging that your listeners will feel the magic of “being
there.” The shared oral story, while heart-warming and enduring,
is also brimming with educational opportunities.
Banjos, Ballads, and Bad Women by Sheila Kay Adams
Incorporating songs/ballads into family stories for adults and children. You
will learn how to make songs appear seamless in stories and not contrived. A
wonderful workshop for teachers, tellers and those who wish to document their
family stories and add that special flair that makes it so memorable.
Maximizing Your Stage Presence by Enda O. Breadon
Workshop participants will learn techniques that actors use for the stage. You
will leave with an idea how to effectively use your voice to support your words
and how to maximize your stage presence in order to hold an audience’s
attention.
Creating Change Through Story, by Martha Tate
For millennium, people have used story to teach and train. This workshop
explores the hero/heroine motif in story as a powerful model for change and transition
in every age and stage. Learn why image and story are such potent tools for imprinting
the heart and mind of young listeners as well as … well, the rest of us. Appropriate
for anyone who uses story to teach, help, inspire, or minister to others.
Storytelling Workshop, by John Beavin
This workshop is for teachers and storytellers who want to tell stories to students
and get students involved. Topics include a story model to help analyze
stories; how to use stories in support of curriculum, how to achieve involvement.
Workshop includes exercises, examples and resources
Genealogy-Fastest Growing Hobby, by Bob Sapp.
An introduction into the techniques of searching and recording family genealogical
information. Worksheets are provided along with suggested research techniques.
Information on preparing heritage society applications and suggested family history
formats are given. Instructor Bob Sapp began his genealogical
research in 1989 and has traced some of his ancestors to their European origins.
He served for 8 years as Chapter Registrar for the Sons of the American Revolution
and has assisted in preparing over 60 applications for membership.
